Claudio Casetti was born in Torino, Italy, in 1968. He graduated from the Politecnico di Torino with a master degree in Electronic Engineering in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering in 1997.

Since July 1992 until July 1993, he was with CSP (Centro Supercalcolo Piemonte) with a research grant for the simulation of broadband communication networks. Since August 1995 until June 1996, he was with the Computer Science Department at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst as visiting researcher.

He held a Post-Doc position at the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Telecomunicazioni at Politecnico di Torino between 1997 and 1999. Between January and July 2000 he was a visiting researcher at the Computer Science Department of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Since 2000 he is an Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Torino
